BibleText is a Bible reading and study app, built to respect your privacy. This policy explains what information the app does and does not handle.
BibleText has no user accounts, shows no ads, and does not collect, track, or sell your personal information. The developer runs no server that receives your data.
Your reading position, history, display settings, and any AI provider key you choose to add are stored only on your device. They are not transmitted to the developer.
Bible translations and study data are downloaded from public, free services so the app can display scripture: bible.helloao.org (the primary source for the World English Bible — including the Catholic edition — and the Berean Standard Bible), bible-api.com (a fallback text source), and openbible.info (cross-reference data). If you play a chapter's audio, public-domain recordings are streamed from openbible.com (Berean Standard Bible narration) and ebible.org (World English Bible recordings); the on-device read-aloud option uses your device's speech synthesis and makes no network request. These are ordinary network requests for the text, study data, and audio themselves; no personal information about you is attached to them.
BibleText's AI features — such as Find, Ask, Explain, and context or translation analysis — are optional and active only if you add your own API key for a third-party AI provider (for example Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or xAI/Grok). When you use one of these features, the passage you selected and your question are sent directly from your device to the provider you chose, using your own key, so it can generate a response. That request is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms. BibleText does not route it through any server of ours and does not retain your prompts.
BibleText does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
